"There was a fork in her face. An actual fork. He dug a fork into her face. A fork stood on end in her cheek. A fork."
I was asked by The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, to work on the images for a whole season of their productions, including Romeo & Juliet, Brief Encounter and an updated retelling of Great Expectations.
This image was produced for 'Shed: Exploded View', a play written by Pheobe Eclair-Powell, which had won the Brentwood Prize for Playwriting, and was being directed by award-winning director Atri Banerjee.
The story is a delicately woven piece about violence, love and loss through three generations of women, and the image is a riff on my existing series 'Love Story', made in collaboration with Victoria Twyman.
